What would you do? God can always see you!

In devotions, we have been focusing on how biblical characters show integrity. I decided to talk about Queen Esther and Noah. They are great role models and perfect examples of people who show integrity. Having integrity in life is very important in life because you will be trusted with big responsibilities, people with feel safe around you, others will know that you know right from wrong, and you will always have it right with God. A person with integrity will have eternal life. Integrity is important to me because nothing is hidden from God, I want to be that friend that is always honest and trustworthy and has my mates backs.

Integrous Bible Characters

Integrity is the quality of being truthful and doing the right thing even when no one is watching and many people still don’t show integrity. It is important to have integrity because even if no one can see God can always see you and is always watching. I am going to write about a couple biblical characters who show integrity. I have decided to talk about Queen Esther and Noah. I have chosen these characters because I believe they are both great role models and stay somewhat true to themselves and others. In this essay, I will be talking about these characters' backgrounds and how they showed integrity.

The first person that showed integrity was Queen Esther. Esther was secretly Jewish and hid her nationality and family background for a long time. Esther was taken to the king’s harem before she was taken to the king’s room. After she was taken to the king’s room she was made queen. An evil and deceitful man named Haman was honored as the highest official in the land. He felt dishonored when Mordecai, Esther’s adopted father, decided not to bow down and show him respect. Haman came up with an ungodly plan to destroy all Jews. He persuaded the king to sign off on the law, but he hid most of the truth. When the law was made many were in distress. Esther went to the king and begged for mercy and asked that all jews will be safe, she also admitted to her being a jew. Esther could have asked for her safety only and that she would not be killed, but instead she pulled through for all jews in the kingdom.

My second and last person is Noah. Noah was a man of integrity and was the only person that could not be blamed for anything. Noah followed the way of God and always stayed true to him. One day God said, “ I have decided to destroy all living creatures as they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth.” Noah was told to build a large boat from cypress wood and to waterproof it with tar. God planned to kill everyone except Noah, his wife, their sons, and their wives. He took a pair of every animal- a female and a male- into the boat to keep them alive. He warned people of the flood but no one believed him, they didn’t believe that water would fall from the heavens to destroy the earth. All they did was laugh, and he was probably ashamed. Noah was 601 when the flooding had ended. He managed to keep himself, his family, and those few animals alive over a long period of time.

In conclusion, Queen Esther and Noah are great examples of those who showed integrity. They are both righteous and stay true to their word and the word of God. When big decisions had to be made they both did the right thing. I believe that showing integrity throughout your life is something we all should do. Being integral can benefit you in so many ways. I believe that we can all show integrity and be true to not only ourselves but to everyone.

Hey. I think that you should read this amazing piece of writing.

In class I have been learning living a healthy life style. I had to write a piece of writing explaining why unhealthy eating habits are bad and I have also tried to self-assess. Here is my work. Enjoy :)

Do you believe that eating whatever you want will help you live a long, happy and healthy life ? In my opinion eating whatever you want whenever is really bad for you especially as a child. Although eating foods that you enjoy such as discretionary foods makes you happy and you love eating them, it’s really bad for your health. So who is ready to take that turn in life and turn their unhealthy eating habits into healthy ones? I think that eating a well balanced diet is superior for your health. Eating a balanced diet can have so many positive effects on your body and your overall health. A balanced diet is a diet that consists of foods from all 5 food groups which are: grains, vegetables, fruit, protein and dairy. Having a healthy diet can decrease your chances of getting terribly ill and dying young. If you disagree with what I have said so far I am sure you will agree with me by the end of this. My main ideas will be around the effect of consuming excessive amounts of saturated fat, portion control, the consequences of eating unhealthy and the outcomes of eating a healthy well balanced diet.

First of all, do you know what saturated fat is and what it does to your body? Some experts say that consuming too much or even small amounts of saturated fat is bad for you, whilst others argue that saturated fats aren’t harmful to your health and should be included as part of a healthy diet. Personally I believe that saturated fat is bad for you and your health because, consuming excessive amounts of saturated fats causes LDL, which is also known as the “bad” cholesterol, to build up in your arteries and usually leads to heart disease and even strokes. Another outcome is obesity, saturated fat stores in your gut and causes you to gain unhealthy amounts of weight. According to medlineplus.gov you should limit saturated fats to only 10% of your daily calorie intake which is around 16-22g of saturated fats a day. I think that a possible way for you to stay healthy is to stay away from foods with high amounts of saturated fats such as, butter, whole-dairy products like milk and cheese, palm and coconut oils, red meat, pizza, baked goods and fried food. Try and lean towards the healthier fats like monounsaturated and polyunsaturated.

Secondly, what is a portion size you may ask? Well a portion size is the amount of food you consume during every meal; controlling your portion size is one way to keep a healthy balanced diet. When it comes to figuring out how much food to have size really does matter and yes, you can have too much of a good food. The size of your hand is a great way to get roughly the right amount of food for that serving. If you want to reduce the portion size try and stay away from the processed foods which are high in sugar, salt and saturated fat. When you eat, your body uses some of the calories you consume for energy. The rest are stored as fat. Consuming more calories than you burn may cause you to become overweight or obese. This increases your risk for cancer and other health problems. Did you know that overeating can also affect your sleep?

Another reason why is because, all bad choices have consequences, say you were in school and you decided to break the rules, there will always be consequences. As a child you may have horrible eating habits and although you may not see any changes now, as you grow up you will start to gain weight and will most probably get most illnesses like heart disease, strokes, obesity, diabetes, tooth decay, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and you can even be diagnosed with depression. Would you want to be judged for your size and the fact that you never smile, or even not being able to love yourself and be loved by others because of the way you look or if you act differently? My last reason is, there are many positive effects of eating a healthy well balanced diet. When eating healthy you can reduce your cancer risk, lose weight, prevent heart disease and strokes, have stronger bones and teeth, better memory and an amazing mood throughout your day. Eating healthy can also prevent you from dying early, so those with good eating habits will live longer than those with poor ones. Evidence shows that foods that are high in vitamin E help prevent blood clots which lead to heart attacks those foods being: almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds and green vegetables.

In conclusion, who is ready to turn themselves around and start living a healthy and happy life? I believe that everyone should at least try and become more healthy. I believe that eating unhealthy foods whenever will really damage your health. I hope that all those who disagreed have finally come to their senses and realised how eating whatever you want whenever you want is really bad for you.

Creative Writing.

This is a piece of creative writing that I have been working on for the past couple of weeks. I am on step five for my writing. My next learning steps are to be confident and consistent using a variety of punctuation including apostrophe for contractions and ownership for and commas for phrase and to experiment with Dashes, colons and semicolons. Here is my writing. Enjoy :)

Our Hectic Diving Experience

“AHHH!” We all screamed as our waka flew over the enormous, colossal waves, with our arms and legs flying everywhere we were excited to get out and explore the deep, blue sea.

Uncle Tamati, who is technically an expert diver, yelled, “ Alright kids get off one at a time or else you’ll flip the boat.” The adults went in first and then the kids, one by one they slowly disappeared into the gloomy depths of the ocean. As I dove into the crystal clear but cold water, it was like I was entering a portal into a whole new world. The water was so majestical. I was surrounded by beautiful sea life and it was the best feeling until frigid water slipped into my wet-suit and my body rapidly covered in goosebumps; I was frozen in place.

Swimming through the water looking for the kai moana. The dive bag, filled to the brim with spiky, tasty kina. Suddenly, “AHHH! NO! Jayden screamed. Slowly but sadly the bag began to descend into the depths. Frantically our uncles dove in from all angles trying to rescue the dive bag. About 20 minutes had passed and uncle Matiu had finally retrieved the bag, we were all relieved.

The bottom of the ocean was just getting clearer and clearer, the beautiful sea creatures living their best life under water. Clear blue water glistened as we swam on our backs looking up into the heavens. Out of the blue Nikora began kicking his legs and waving his arms. A beautiful manta ray was drifting through the water above us. This amazingly enormous sea devil was gliding through the water like an Eagle flying through the air. Nikora was so frightened he was frozen in place and he didn’t want to move, but we needed to get out of the water, bravely he began to slowly swim towards the boat. His head moved speedily from side to side just making sure that no more creatures were lurking in the deep.

The day was hectic but it was a blast. It was like a roller coaster of emotions. One moment we were happily diving through the clear water and the next we were screaming our heads off. That was definitely a once in a lifetime hectic diving experience.

The Historic Stone Store and Kororipo Pa.

During labour weekend (2020) my whanau and I decided to go for an evening stroll, at the stone store, after dinner. When we arrived at the Stone Store my sister began nagging my mum for her phone " Mum, mum, mum can I have your phone pleaseeee!" she said as we sat in the car. Mum ended up giving her phone to me. As soon as we started walking up the track to Kororipo Pa I saw the perfect place to take a photo. We continued up the track. Finally we reached the top the view was so beautiful. The Tui sang as if they were welcoming us into their home. I could barely contain myself straight away the phone came out of my pocket. It was really a lot to take in. We spent about 10 minutes just looking around and reading the little signs. Sadly it was time to head back down. I told my sister to wait so I could take a couple photos of her, they were really beautiful. The history of my ancestors lay on that hill. That evening was really amazing and I am really lucky to have the opportunities of getting to know the history behind my culture. Here are a few photos that I took.

Labour Day!!

Over the long weekend we were given some work based on Labour Day. After reading this article this is what I found out. Enjoy :)
